Youth Leader Luke and troubled teenager Tai have one thing in common: they both need to complete the Youth United Positively Programme.
But when the group of young people and staff are brought together in an isolated forest, tensions begin to rise and secrets start to surface. Somewhere along the way, Luke and Tai form an unexpected bond.
And they are not as alone as they think. Danger is closing in.
Everyone Has Their Own Story
The Youth United Positively Programme brings together a group of young people and staff in an isolated forest setting. For Luke, it is a chance to lead. For Tai, it is an opportunity to prove himself.
Beneath the surface, everyone is dealing with something... Tai struggles to fit in while keeping parts of his past hidden. Staff relationships become increasingly complicated.
Young people clash. Personal tensions build. And Luke begins to realise that supporting the group means dealing with far more than he expected. There is drama within the group, secrets within the relationships and tensions that cannot stay buried forever.
Then The Rules Change
At first, the biggest challenges seem to come from within the group. But the deeper Luke and Tai become involved in what is happening around them, the more they begin to realise that something is seriously wrong.
They are isolated. They are surrounded by forest. Help is not close by. As Luke and Tai's unlikely rapport develops, they begin to rely on each other in ways neither of them expected. But their growing bond is tested as the situation around them becomes increasingly dangerous.
What started as a youth programme is becoming something else entirely.
When Isolation Becomes Dangerous
Deep in the forest, miles from the normal world, there is nowhere easy to escape to.
As events unfold, Luke and the young people are forced to confront a threat they could never have anticipated. The people around them have their own secrets. The situation is becoming increasingly unpredictable, and somewhere beyond them, a dangerous individual is watching.
The forest is no longer simply where the programme takes place. It has become a place they cannot easily escape.
Luke & Tai
Luke and Tai begin the story from very different positions. One is responsible for the programme, whilst the other is a young person who struggles to find his place within it.
Neither expects the relationship to develop into something meaningful. But as the pressure around them increases, they begin to understand each other. They both have their own challenges. They both have things they are trying to deal with. And, unexpectedly, they begin to help each other through them.
Sometimes the person you least expect can become the person you need most.

I am a Resilience and Mindset Life Coach and Strategic Safeguarding Manager with more than 17 years of experience supporting young people, adults, parents and professionals.
My work has given me a unique insight into the pressures young people face, the complexity of relationships and the choices people make under pressure.
Isolated Chaos began with an idea during a youth trip and eventually became my debut novel.
Set in an isolated forest, the story combines complex relationships, personal secrets, unexpected friendships and psychological suspense.
At its heart, it is a story about people trying to navigate situations they never expected to find themselves in, and what happens when everything they thought they understood begins to unravel.
